This is the guideline for Accepted students on 2013 Dec 23.

Waiting List numbers (valid until spring semester of 2014) will be distributed to unaccepted applicants.
Announcements of additionally accepted waiting list numbers will be posted on Gwanaksa’s homepage. Please check the notice board occasionally.

[2014 Gwanaksa Registration procedures]

To complete your registration successfully, all applicants MUST submit both the required documents and the housing payment within registration period. If failed to submit both of the requirements within the specified time period, accepted applicants will automatically lose their right to stay in the dormitory. The vacant rooms will be re-assigned to those students in the waiting list.

* Bill paper with the assigned room number will be distributed on Jan 6th 2014.
* All students including the residents of the year 2013 also MUST complete the registration procedures (including KGSP students)


1. Selecting Optional choice
- Select one of the three optional choices: “Roommate Selection”, “Cancel Request to Retain same room”, “Life pattern” or "Women Only Residential Building"

□ Period: 2013 December 23rd Monday, 11:00 ~ December 27th Friday, 18:00

- This service is only available for applicants accepted on Dec. 23th.
- Applicants who received waiting numbers first and then were accepted later are not eligible for this service.

- If you do not wish to select any of the optional choices, please log out.
- Due to limited number of rooms compared to the number of applicants, assurance for your optional choice cannot be promised.
- Your selection for optional choice cannot be changed once submitted.

1) Application for Cancel Request to Retain same room.
- It’s only available for the students who will live continuely from 2013 residency.
- If you want to change your room, please check this application.

2) Roommate Selection
: Both applicants (accepted to dormitory) should selected ‘roommate selection’ for their optional service.
If the students who already lived in dorm apply this, the Application for Cancel Request to Retain same room will be accepted automatically.

② Fill out your friend’s information (Student ID number) .
③ Apply
- Attention!
①Both applicants should be accepted applicants. Also, both applicants should apply for roommate choice.
②Only the applicants in same student status (Undergraduate with Undergraduate, Graduate with Graduate) can apply as “Roommates”
③If one of roommate doesn’t apply it or fail to the fill in the roommate information, your roommate will be randomly assigned.

3) Life Pattern Selection
- Click your life pattern. Please remember that life pattern cannot be matched 100%. Therefore, there is also very high chance that your roommate may have different life pattern.
If the students who already lived in dorm apply this, the Application for Cancel Request to Retain same room will be accepted automatically.

4) Women Only Residential Building(901bldg)
: This service is only for graduate women students.
- Applying procedure
① Log-into Gwanaksa homepage or My_snu portal site.
‣ Gwanaksa homepage > Online application > Request Room choice > Application for Female only building.
‣ My_snu portal website > Academic affairs > Dormitory > Gwanaksa > Request Room choice > Application for Female only building.

- Attention!
① Remember that there is high chance that your will be assigned to other building due to the limited room space in Bldg.901.
② If you are currently living in Bldg.901 and want to stay same room, don’t check “Application for Cancel Request to Retain same room”.
③ If you are currently living in Bldg.901 and select “Woman Only Residential Building”, you may be assigned to another room in Bldg.901 or there are some percentage to assigned the other building.



2. Registration: Submitting required documents and Paying the fee.

※ Registration Period
: 2014 Jan 06(Mon)~ 2014 Jan 15(Wed), only weekdays 10:00~17:00(except lunch time)
For proper completion of the process, you must submit both the required documents and the housing payment within registration period. If failed to submit both of the requirements within the specified time period, accepted applicants will automatically lose their right to stay in the dormitory. The vacant rooms will be re-assigned to those students in the waiting list.

1) Documents Submission
: 2014 Jan 06(Mon)~ Jan 15 (Wed), 10:00~17:00
[Register mail: Jan 06 ~ Jan 10 17:00, registered mail will only be accepted if received before 2014 Jan 10,17:00]
① The required documents: A Copy of passport and Medical certificate (Original)
* Research student have to submit the "confirmation of research student" which is attached to notice and a certificate for four insurance confirmation.
- A copy of passport which shows your I.D Photo, Birthday and Signature
- An original certificate of health examination.
∙ The medical certificate should include Chest-X ray result, Doctor’s signature, Issuing date and Hospital address. (Should be written in English or in Korean)
∙ The medical certificate should be issued within 3 months from the registration period for dormitory residency.
∙ If the candidate underwent free medical checkup during Dec 03~11 , he/she dose not need to submit the medical certificate separately. One who didn’t take free medical checkup should visit another hospital and submit the medical certificate.
② Document submission instructions:
- Personal drop-off : Gwanaksa Administrative office, Bldg.900 1st floor.
- Registered Mail : You Must send the document via DHL, EMS , FEDEX or by international registered mail to the following address

※ Documents sent via registered mail have to be arrived at Gwanaksa office by 10 Jan 2014, 17:00.
- Any document sent via fax, e-mail, parcel delivery service or regular mail will not be accepted.
- The documents can also be submitted by your representative.

2) Dormitory Fee Payment: 2014 Jan 06 (Mon) ~ Jan 15 (Wed),
Only weekdays,10:00~17:00

① How to print the bill.
‣ Gwanaksa homepage > Online application > Print bill.
‣ My_snu portal website > Academic affairs > Dormitory > Gwanaksa > Print bill.

② Pay the housing fee.
: Choose a bank from the two options provided (Nonghyup/Shinhan) and deposit the payment in its exact value to the virtual account number given.
※ The virtual account only opens from 10:00~17:00 during the designated payment period.
※ Payments made from abroad is not accepted.


③ Housing Fee
∙ Undergraduate: Bldg.921~926 : 556,000 won
Bldg. 919 : 628,000 won
Bldg.906 : 862,000 won
- Residence fee includes 100,000won amount of deposit. (Deposit will be 100% returned in case of no loss or damage to facility)
∙ Graduate student - Single room(Bldg.900~906) :586,000
- Twin room(Bldg.900~905): 416,000
-Single room(Bldg.918):380,000
- Residence fee includes monthly dormitory fee for March +2014 deposit(one month dormitory fee)(Deposit will be 100% returned in case of no loss or damage to facility)

④ Detail instructions for housing fee
∙ Undergraduate: dormitory fee have to be paid quarterly.
- Spring semester (beginning of Mar ~ middle of Jun): Must be paid when you enroll.
- Summer vacation (Middle of Jun ~ end of Aug): Optional choice, at the end of May
- Fall semester (beginning of Sep~ middle of Dec): Must be paid at the beginning of Jun
- Winter vacation (Middle of Dec~ end of Feb of following year): Optional, payment at the end of Nov
* Failing to pay the fee for fall semester, you are not eligible to stay at dorm from September.

∙ Graduate student: Monthly payment.
- From April, Gwanaksa housing fee will be paid on the 2nd or 15th of each month by CMS. CMS is a kind of automatic withdrawal system and you can apply it at the bank.
- Deposit: Unpaid housing fee will be replaced by deposit. Nonpayment until the 2nd of the following month will be result in eviction.
* Consequence of nonpayment of housing fee.
- First failure to pay a housing fee at the first due date (on 2nd) : SMS and notice of nonpayment will be sent.
- Second failure to pay a housing fee at the second due date (on 15th): SMS and notice of warning will be sent.
- Third failure to pay a housing fee on the 2nd of the following month: Eviction from dormitory.
* How to apply CMS
①Visiting a Bank directly
- Visiting a bank-> Filling out the application of automatic withdrawal.
(Please refer to the below 'common input data')
② Internet banking
-Internet banking-> Utility bill (공과금법원) -> Paying by giro-> Applying a giro automatic payment
③ Input data
-이용기관(Customer): 서울대학교 관악사 (Seoul National University, Gwanaksa)
- 요금종류(Category) : 기숙사비 (Dormitory fee)
- 이용기관 코드(Customer Code): 9980310536
- 납부자 번호 (Payer numbers) : Student ID number
- And fill out the personal information.

3. Additional Information
1) Check Gwanaksa website frequently. Gwanaksa do not contact the candidates about the result personally. Students have to check the result by themselves through our website.
2) Failing to submit both of the requirements within the specified time period will be considered as a renunciation of given housing assignment.
3) If there is any false statement in the application documents (including identity, GPA, address, etc.), you will be asked to move out.
4) If the student’s school status is changed by leave of absence, completion or graduation, the person should check out voluntarily. If he/she is exposed, he/she will be expelled. (If you become research student, you have to submit the certificate of research student)
5) The residence period is a year from 01 March 2013 to Feb 2014. In order to stay at fall semester, applicants MUST complete fall semester registration (payment) procedures.
6) Your assigned room and Building number will distributed along with the payment bill.
7) Please refer to Gwanaksa regulation and other information on our website.
8) Official check-in date(Tentative)
: 2014 March 01(Sat)13:00~18:00 & 02(Sun). 09:00~18:00(except 12:00~13:00)
From 2014 March 02, Only weekdays(Mon~Fri),19:00~23:00.
** There is possibility of change of official check-in date. Please check it later again.
